I've been behind on posting pages from The Naked Boy. I've been getting the last of the public art piece for TriMet's Green Line installed. Here are some images of the work. The Naked Boy will resume soon.

The Naked Boy

The Naked Boy is a birth of the nation story. The Naked Boy is spit out of the mouth of a whale. The Naked Boy is given the mission to follow the railroad west to kill the Great Bear. There are two narrative voices throughout the story. The first is the omniscient narrator, the poet. This voice uses the device of epic, heroic poetry. The second is Preacher Smith, a syndicated talk radio preacher. Preacher Smith is never seen, he broadcasts locally from everywhere the Naked Boy finds himself. Preacher Smith is the main agitator against the Naked Boy.

The Naked Boy Part 2

Summer is in the air as The Naked Boy saga continues. The Naked Boy grows older as he crosses the continent to kill The Great Bear. In this episode he meets a family of escaping slaves en route to Freedom City. Freedom City has another knickname- The City of Big Men, and the City of Big Men is the heart of a vast military industrial complex. The Governor of Freedom City is going to run for president and the Naked Boy is the key to his campaign. Ursula and The Great Bear try to find out who is keeping them from contacting The Naked Boy directly. And the Naked Boy continues to lose body parts as he rambles West in this exciting second chapter of this American epic.Click on picture to order. $10.00

The Green Man of Portland

Since Portland’s founding, sightings of small green archers have been reported throughout the city. Very few documents exist to confirm these rumors. Along with the archers, a celestial stag, a phantom building and a huge tree have been spotted, time-to-time, throughout Old Portland. Whenever the archer hits someone, her vision changes. An aura of flowers grows from the heads of passersby. Suddenly a building called “The Greenwood” is visible where there was no building before. A giant tree larger than any buildings in town towers over the city. On certain nights, a great white celestial stag is spied in the skies over Portland. The Green Man's arrows pierce the secret history of Portland.
